NSS volunteer felicitated
National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteer Latu Kumari, a student of Government Post-Graduate College, Chamba, was felicitated by Principal Dr Madan Guleria during a brief ceremony held at the college on Tuesday. She was presented with a memento in recognition of her participation in the seven-day National Integration Camp (NIC) 2025, organised in Dharampur in Valsad district of Gujarat.
NSS district nodal officer Prof Avinash Pal said the camp brought together selected NSS volunteers from across Indian universities and colleges. He added that two volunteers from Chamba district were selected this year.
The NIC, held from June 27 to July 3, offered volunteers a platform to engage in diverse activities including speech competitions, diya decoration, invitation card making, poster making, folk dance and folk singing. Latu stood out with her enthusiastic participation and brought accolades to her college and district.
The camp, organised annually by the NSS Directorate, promotes national unity, cultural exchange and community engagement. Latu was part of an 11-member team representing Himachal Pradesh and has become the first volunteer from Chamba district to be selected for this prestigious event.
Dr Guleria extended his congratulations to the volunteer for her excellent performance and also appreciated the efforts of NSS programme officers, Prof Avinash Pal and Prof Santosh Kumari, for their guidance and mentoring.
