The NSS volunteers of Government Senior Secondary School, Totu, are engaged in various activities, besides online learning, as the schools lie shut. The volunteers are making masks at their respective homes and distributing these to the needy. They are also spreading the message of cleanliness and taking precautions to fight the pandemic. Earlier, the students participated in painting and slogan writing competitions to keep the morale of corona warriors high.
Webinar for teachers
The Kangra cluster of DAV public schools organised a webinar through Zoom App to enable teachers to conduct online classes effectively. The teachers of 10 different DAV schools of the cluster, namely DAV Rehan, DAV Baghni (Nurpur), DAV Patta Jatian, DAV Nagrota Surian, DAV Manai, DAV Dharamsala, DAV Narwana, DAV Bharmour and DAV Chamba, participated in it. New strategies to make online teaching a success were shared by each school. The challenges being faced during the online teaching were also discussed in detail. The webinar commenced with the address of GK Bhatnagar, ARO, DAV Zone-B, followed by a speech of the cluster head Ashok Guleria, principal, DAV Public School. The teachers promised to implement their new learnings in teaching strategies.
‘Regularise profs from April’
The Himachal Government College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) has urged the government to implement the decision of regularising assistant professors from April 1, 2020, instead of the date of notification May 30, 2020. The 103 assistant professors were regularised after completing three years of contract service on March 31, 2020. But due to the ongoing pandemic and lockdown, the requisite codal formalities could not be completed and the notification was delayed by two months.
