NSS volunteers shine at National Unity Camp
Three volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) from Sirmaur district proudly represented Himachal Pradesh at the National Unity Camp held at Chandigarh University from February 5 to 11. Raman from Government College, Nahan; Krishnagopal from Government College, Paonta Sahib; and Anjali Verma from Government College, Pajhota, showcased their skills and cultural ethos while participating in this prestigious event.
According to NSS district coordinator Dr Pankaj Chandak, the seven-day residential camp provided volunteers with an opportunity to understand and embrace the diverse cultures of India, thereby reinforcing the spirit of ‘vasudhaiva kutumbakam’ (the world is one family).
The camp featured a variety of competitions, including speeches, quizzes, debates, and cultural performances. In a proud moment for the state, Raman Kumar from Government College Nahan secured the first position in the quiz competition, bringing laurels to the state. His remarkable achievement was appreciated by dignitaries such as Dr Vinay Sharma, NSS coordinator of Himachal Pradesh University; Dr Saroj Bhardwaj, state nodal officer of NSS; Jaibhagwan, Regional Director of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports; youth officer Praveen Kumar; and section officer Motilal, who extended their congratulations to the winners.
The volunteers attributed their success to the constant support and guidance of their college principals. They also expressed gratitude towards NSS district nodal officer Dr Pankaj Chandak, NSS programme officers Prakash (Pajhota), Lakshita Thakur (Nahan), Dr Arun and Sheetal (Paonta Sahib) for their encouragement and mentorship.
