Nurpur body distributes warm clothes to mark birth anniv of CJI Mahajan
The Mahajan Sabha here recently initiated a campaign to collect used warm clothes to mark the 135th birth anniversary of former Chief Justice of India, Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan.
Mahajan hailed from Tika Nagrota, a tiny village in Nurpur. The sabha aims to distribute the collected warm clothes among the underprivileged.
In Nurpur, Mahajan is considered an historical icon.
On the appeal by the sabha, members of the Mahajan community of Nurpur and surrounding areas donated warm clothes at the clothes bank of the body.
The collected warm clothes were distributed to 300 underprivileged migrant labourers at Nurpur, Jassur and Nagabari.
The youth wing of the sabha showed keen interest in collection of warm clothes from their friends and family. The sabha has expressed its gratitude to the donors and lauded the youth wing of the sabha for this noble cause.
