Nurpur doc among Stanford University’s top 2% scientists

Dr Vikram Mahajan is on the list of top 21 Indian dermatologists who have bagged the honour

Dr Vikram Mahajan, who hails from Nurpur town, has featured in the list of 21 Indian dermatologists, who have recently been recognised among world’s top 2 per cent scientists in the database curated by Stanford University, US.

The database has been curated by Prof John PA Loannidis of the world’s prestigious research university in collaboration with the Elsevier Data Repository. The honour acknowledges pioneering research and clinical achievements of the recognised Indian dermatologists.

The database of the top-cited scientists provides standardised information on citations, h-index, co-authorship, citations to papers in different authorship positions and composite indicator (c-score). The selection is based on top 100,000 scientists by c-score or 2 percentile rank in the sub-field.

Dr Mahajan, who figures on serial number 12 in the list of the 21 Indian dermatologists, has been presently serving as professor in Dermatology and Venereology Department in the Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, since August 2022. He retired from the post of Head of Dermatology Department at the Dr RP Medical College, Tanda, Kangra, in 2019. His area of research includes clinical dermatology, contact dermatitis, subcutaneous mycoses, cutaneous leishmaniasis, leprosy, melasma, psoriasis and urticaria.

Dr Mahajan is also a section editor at the Indian Dermatology Online Journal. As per Stanford University’s curated score sheet, he holds a rank of 2,44,643 in the list based on the composite score, excluding self-citations, and 2,68,044 when all citations are included. Dr Mahajan, did his schooling in Government School, Nurpur, MBBS from IGMC, Shimla, and postgraduation from PGI, Chandigarh.
