Nurpur police crackdown on drug trafficking, recover 6 kg charas

On Saturday night, a special drive led to the recovery of 6.044 kg of charas and the arrest of three drug peddlers.
According to SP Ashok Rattan, a police team conducted an anti-drug trafficking operation in the Kandhal Meinankabadi area and intercepted an Alto car bearing a temporary registration number for checking. During the search, the police recovered the contraband from the possession of three occupants of the car.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Anu Kumar, Suresh Kumar, and Ram Lal, all residents of Mandi district. A criminal case has been registered at Police Station Nurpur under Sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and network of the contraband.
This recovery is part of the Nurpur police's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. So far this year, the police have registered 74 criminal cases under the NDPS Act and seized 1 kg 530.69 grams of heroin/chitta, 23 kg 154 grams of charas, 23 kg 570 grams of poppy husk (chura post), and 344 cannabis plants. Additionally, they have attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 24.68 crore belonging to drug smugglers and recovered Rs 1.27 crore in drug money.
A total of 122 persons, including 112 men and 10 women, have been arrested in drug-related cases this year. The police are working to dismantle the network of drug traffickers and bring those involved to justice.
