SP Ashok Ratan (IPS-2017) will also hold the additional charge of the newly notified 15th police district, Dehra. The state government issued the order in this regard on Thursday.
Dehra is the third non-administrative police district in the state after Baddi and Nurpur. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had promised the people of Dehra to grant the Dehra subdivision the status of a police district status.
As per information, Dehra is one of the oldest tehsils in the state created during the British regime in 1868. Before 1986, it had a police chowki falling under the jurisdiction of the Jawalamukhi police station. However, during the regime of Virbhadra Singh in 1986, it was upgraded to a police station, following which the office of the Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) was established here after a few years.
The Dehra police district will include the offices of the DSPs of Jawalamukhi, Dehra and Dadasibha and six police stations of Jawalamukhi, Rakkar, Khudian, Dehra, Haripur and Dadasibha.
