The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEBL) employees have urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to direct power utilities like Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (HPPTCL) and Directorate of Energy (DoE) to offer service conditions before permanently absorbing the electricity board employees.

The HPSEBL employees are being absorbed in these power utilities under the rationalisation of manpower initiated in the electricity board. The board has circulated a letter among its employees to seek their willingness for permanent absorption in these power utilities. The Joint Action Committee of the HPSEBL employees, engineers and pensioners have written to the Chief Minister that any decision without these utilities offering detailed service conditions would lead to legal issues.

According to JAC, HPSEBL, HPPTCL, HPPCL and DoE have their own service rules and regulations, and any hasty decision with regard to absorption of employees can adversely affect the service conditions of the staff absorbed. “One direct impact of such absorption will be the reduction in the promotional avenues of employees,” said the JAC office-bearers.
