Officers’ association flays ‘ill-treatment’ meted out to Kullu tehsildar
Seeks strict action and security measures
The Block Development Officers’ Association of Himachal Pradesh has condemned alleged ill-treatment of Kullu Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav during the International Dasehra Festival at Rath Yatra Maidan, Dhalpur, in Kullu district yesterday.
The association has submitted a letter to the Chief Minister, demanding strict action against those involved in the incident and requesting adequate security for officers during such public events.
In the letter, the association stated its deep anguish and concern over the incident, labeling it as “inhuman and unacceptable.” It emphasised solidarity with the tehsildar and the Himachal Pradesh Revenue Officers’ Association, supporting their call for immediate and stern action.
While affirming their unwavering faith in the deities of Himachal Pradesh, association president GC Pathak highlighted that Dev Niti (divine law) should never be misused as a shield to justify assault or misbehaviour with government officials. It stressed that any issue, even if related to religious beliefs or customs, must be resolved peacefully and respectfully, without resorting to violence.
The letter also urged the state government to ensure adequate security measures for all officers deployed on mela (festival) duties.
