One person has been booked for allegedly raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl in Shimla.
According to the police, the parents of the girl took her to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital, Shimla, for check-up after she complained of stomachache. The doctor revealed to the parents that their daughter was four-month pregnant. The girl told her parents that a man had raped her four months ago.
The distraught parents lodged a complaint against the accused and the police registered a case under Section 65 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)-2023 and Section 4 of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and initiated an investigation.
The police stated that the girl’s statement had been recorded and her medical report had been included as evidence while an investigation was underway.
