One dead, one injured in Sunni truck accident
An accident on the Sunni-Luhri road in Shimla district left one person dead and another injured when a truck (HP 11 B 5363) skidded into a gorge on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Prem Chand (52) of Suja village in Jogindernagar Tehsil, Mandi district. The injured, Jaipal (27), hails from Parnu village in Arki Tehsil, Solan district.
The accident occurred near Kahira village while the truck was traveling from Rampur to Sunni. According to reports, Prem Chand, who was driving the vehicle, lost control, leading it to plunge into the gorge. He died on the spot, while Jaipal sustained injuries.
Locals immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene, rescued the injured and recovered the deceased’s body. Jaipal was initially taken to Civil Hospital, Sunni, before being referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) for further treatment. The postmortem of the deceased is being conducted at Sunni CH.
Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.
