Mandi, February 24
One person was killed while 11 were injured in a road accident at Nano village in Mandi district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Balwant Singh, a native of Ropari panchayat in Mandi.
According to the police, driver Narotam Singh lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a gorge. A police team rushed to the spot and rescued 12 persons from the accident site.
The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Sarkaghat. The driver succumbed to his injuries at a Mandi hospital today. Two critically injured persons have been referred to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital, Nerchowk.
Shrawan Manta, Additional District Magistrate, said one person died in the accident, adding that the injured were receiving treatment. He said financial assistance was being given to the injured as immediate relief from the district administration. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered.
