Shimla/solan, December 8
A woman was killed on the spot while three others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident and fell into a gorge near Manaval in the Kotkhai area of Shimla district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Usha (who was driving the car), a resident of Dhdhhrwari village at Kwar in the Chirgaon area. The victims were on their way to Dodra Kwar from Shimla when the tragedy struck. A case under Sections 279, 337 and 304 A of the IPC has been registered.
Meanwhile, a youth and his grandmother were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding tipper around 8.15 am on Monday. The incident took place on the Baddi-Nalagarh National Highway near the bus stand. The duo, who hailed from Nandpur village in Baddi, succumbed to serious head injuries.
The woman’s dupatta is said to have got entangled in the truck’s wheel and was dragged behind it. Baddi SP Rohit Malpani said the driver fled the scene. A case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC had been registered against him. He added that the accident occurred due to the rash driving of the tipper. The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Ranjeet Singh and his 65-year-old grandmother Kaushalya Devi.
