One killed after car plunges into gorge
A case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita had been registered
One person was killed after the car (HP 06 C 6003) he was travelling in plunged into a gorge in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district, police said here on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bhagwan Dass (72), a resident of Bashri village in Rampur Bushahr, Shimla.
According to the police, the mishap occurred near Barshi when Bhagwan, who was driving the car, lost control at a sharp curve, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and plunge into a deep gorge. He died on the spot.
Locals spotted the accident and immediately alerted the the police. A team reached the site and, with the help of villagers, retrieved the body from the gorge. It was later taken to the Mahatma Gandhi Medical Services Complex, Khaneri, for post-mortem.
Police officials confirmed the incident and said a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita had been registered. Further investigation was underway, they said.
