A woman was killed and a man sustained injuries after a car they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge at Nerwa in Shimla district.
The police said on Wednesday the deceased was identified as Kajal Negi (29) while the injured was identified as Udit Negi (30), both residents of Neoti village in Nerwa.
The mishap took place on Tuesday evening on the Neoti-Lakhawati link road while they were on way to their home. Udit, who was driving the car, lost control over the steering wheel and the vehicle plunged into the gorge. Upon receiving information, a police team reached the spot and rescued the injured and recovered Kajal’s body from the car. The injured was rushed to Nerwa Civil Hospital, from where he was shifted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The deceased’s body was handed over to her family members. Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, Superintendent of Police, Shimla, said further investigation was underway in this connection.
