One killed another seriously injured in Jawali road mishap

A driver of an Innova was killed on the spot and other occupant was injured seriously on the Nagrota Surian- Lunj link road in Jawali under the Nurpur police district yesterday night when the speeding vehicle overturned near Spail.

The deceased has been identified as Rajinder Singh (22) and injured as Gulshan Kumar (23), both residents of Spail village in Jawali. The ill-fated Innova was on its way from Nagrota Surian to Lunch when its driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a roadside gorge after hitting a parapet. The vehicle caught fire after the accident. Locals rushed to the spot and doused the flames. They also started relief and rescue work and informed the police.

There were four persons in the vehicle who were coming back after attending a marriage ceremony. Only two could come out of the vehicle before the accident.

According to the Jawali police, the injured was initially treated at the Community Health Centre, Nagrota Surian, and referred to the Tanda Medical College, Kangra. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after conducting a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered in this connection by the Jawali police.
