Solan, October 18
In a bid to ensure smooth flow of the traffic on the busy Sai Road in Baddi industrial area, the police today issued directions for one-way movement of heavy vehicles on this road.
Slow moving heavy vehicles like tractors, trucks, earth-excavating machine, etc, have been prohibited from plying from 8 am to 10:30 am and from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
SP Baddi Rohit Malpani said, “The road witnesses big pedestrian movement apart from the heavy industrial vehicles which carry goods to and fro to various industries. In view of the festive season, a move to decongest the road has been initiated and movement of heavy vehicles has been made one-way.”
Trucks which are a major cause of traffic congestion have been prohibited to ply via the Dawat Chowk to the Baddi industrial area and entry from the busy Gandhi Chowk to Dawat Chowk has been prohibited from 8 am to 8 pm. The order will be applicable from October 22 to November 14 initially and if found fit it would be continued later, informed the SP.
Notably, Sai Road is the main activity centre of Baddi which leads to various industries where heavy trucks ply throughout the day. Presence of various banks, malls and key offices on this road has made it the busiest area of this industrial belt.
