Only 22% female candidates clear physical efficiency test for constables
Only 22.42 per cent female candidates passed the physical efficiency test held here for the recruitment of constables in the state police.
As many as 800 female candidates were called for the physical efficiency test and 535 of them took it. Of 535 candidates, only 120 cleared the test.
The recruitment process for male and female constables for 1,226 posts is underway in various districts.
As the eligibility conditions like time taken to complete 800 m and 100 m races, besides the height of field activities were revised after the last recruitment drive in 2021, fewer women managed to clear the physical proficiency test in Solan yesterday.
For the recruitment of male constables, too, the prescribed standards have been revised as compared to 2001. A police officer said stricter standards were introduced to ensure that the fittest candidates is recruited.
The recruitment process involving the physical efficiency of female and male candidates related to Solan district kick-started at the Police Line Ground here. “Women aspirants appeared for the physical efficiency test on the first day. This process will continue till February 28. The test for the male candidates will start on March 1 and continue till March 6,” said SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh. Those who pass the test would be eligible to appear in the written examination.
