Shimla, July 31
The Weather Department has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan and Una districts over the next 36 hours. The department has retained the orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain on August 1-2 at isolated areas in several districts.
The department had issued orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall for today as well. Light to moderate rain was recorded at several places over the last 25 hours, with Una, Dharamsala and Manali recording the maximum rainfall.
The Weather Department has warned that heavy to very heavy rain could cause flooding and waterlogging in low lying areas. It could also lead to landslides and mudslides. People have been advised to follow the advisories issued by the departments concerned over the next two days. — TNS
