Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, today organised ‘Aarohan- 2024’, an orientation programme for newly admitted undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) students.
The chief guest at the event was Justice CB Barowalia, Lokayukta of Himachal Pradesh.
The programme was presided over by IILM University (Gurugram) Pro-Chancellor Ranbir Singh and the guest of honour was SRM University Vice-Chancellor PS Jaswal.
The event witnessed the participation of more than 200 UG and PG students.
In his address, Justice Barowalia said law was a very noble profession.
“One must be disciplined in life, and value time during their course of study,” he added.
During his presidential address, Ranbir Singh said the law was noble profession as the history of freedom struggles was written by lawyers in most countries.
PS Jaswal congratulated the students on choosing law as a career, urging them to be knowledge-centric rather than information-centric. Information without knowledge was not fruitful, he said.
HPNLU Vice-Chancellor (officiating) Chanchal Kr Singh welcomed the students and discussed the course outline for each subject.
He urged the students to make use of the library as it was equipped with various titles on law and social sciences.
