Orientation programme welcomes BBA freshers at Chamba GDC

An orientation and induction programme for BBA students was organised on Wednesday at the Akhand Chandi Palace campus of Government Degree College, Chamba.

Principal Dr Madan Guleria presided as chief guest, while retired Principal Dr Kuldeep Banta was the special guest. Dr Mahajan formally welcomed the dignitaries, faculty and students with badges.

First-year students were introduced to college rules, etiquette, clubs, societies, co-curricular activities, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) youth festivals and sports competitions. Faculty members, including Mrinal Sharma, Ved Jyoti, Digvijay Thakur, Jyoti Sharma and Dr Mahajan, briefed them on the college’s history, achievements, vision, mission and course structure.

Dr Mahajan emphasised campus cleanliness, beautification, and the “Plant a Tree on Your Birthday” initiative, while also advising students on grievance redressal, especially for women students, through the Sexual Harassment Committee. She stressed discipline, respectful interaction with teachers and constructive use of mobile phones.

Prof Avinash Pal introduced students to campus organisations such as NSS, NCC, Rover Rangers, Eco Club, Red Ribbon Club, Space Genesis and various academic societies. He also explained the structure and participation process for HPU youth festivals and sports events. Prof Rakesh Rathour guided students on using e-resources like e-Gyankosh, Swayam Prabha and other digital learning platforms.

In his address, Principal Dr Guleria described the start of their academic journey as a significant milestone, encouraging students to make the most of their time, embrace challenges, participate in activities and grow into responsible citizens.
