Sadiq said that Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani would flag off the tour on January 23. It would be conducted under the Chief Minister Sukh Ashrya Scheme, he added.

The DC further said that this would make these children aware about history, culture and scientific developments, and contribute towards their personality development.

He said these children would visit Amritsar and Jalandhar, and get to see the Wagah Border, Golden Temple and the Jallianwala Bagh. Additionally, the children would visit Pushpa Gujral Science City in Kapurthala, where they would be introduced to the latest developments in science and technology.

The Pushpa Gujral Science City is one of the biggest science cities in the country and was named after the mother of India’s former Prime Minister IK Gujral. It was built as a joint project of the Centre and the Punjab Government.

Sadiq said arrangements were also made to take 14 differently-abled children to Mata Naina Devi shrine. This visit would foster their spiritual growth and offer them an opportunity to connect with other members of society. All necessary arrangements were made to ensure a smooth and trouble-free journey for differently abled children, he added.

He said that the CM Sukh Ashrya Scheme was aimed at aiding the welfare of marginalised sections of society, particularly orphaned children, differently-abled individuals and the elderly. He described the scheme as a significant step towards social justice and a vital step towards bright future for orphaned children.
