OSD at Baddi to coordinate mitigation steps

The state government on Sunday appointed a 2002-batch Himachal Administrative Services officer Shubh Karan Singh as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial belt to coordinate effectively between the state government, Solan Deputy Commissioner and the local administration for undertaking Covid mitigation measures.
Singh, who was posted as the Director, Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training, has been directed to join at Baddi with immediate effect. Notably, despite being part of Solan district, the BBN industrial belt is a separate police and excise district. Owing to emerging Covid cases, senior officials are occupied with mitigation measures at the local level and the need for effective coordination between various agencies was felt.
According to the notification, the officer will also act as a nodal officer for coordination, supervision, monitoring and reporting of measures pertaining to Covid. He will also contact religious heads, industry establishments, NGOs and various unions for undertaking prevention, control and mitigation measures to prevent and control the spread of this pandemic.
Notably, eight cases of Covid have emerged from the area with three pertaining to Jamaat members and five to Delhi residents, one of whom had died at the PGI, Chandigarh, and the rest were shifted to Gurgaon on Saturday.
