More than 500 outsourced workers at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital went on strike, disrupting services at the state's largest hospital. The workers are protesting the dismissal of 132 outsourced employees, including sweepers and ward attendants.
The protesters alleged that the hospital administration has taken away the livelihoods of numerous families by terminating these 132 staff members.
