Over 100 students participate in ‘Rangarang Bharat’ competition

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Kangra Chapter, organised ‘Rangarang Bharat’, a national-level painting competition, at Government High School Sidhbari in Dharamsala. The event drew 100 participants from 10 schools, providing a platform to budding artists to showcase Indian traditions, customs, fairs and festivals.

The students created vibrant paintings depicting local festivals like Sair, Basant Panchami, Lohri and Janamashtami, as well as popular fairs like Dari and Khaniyara and tribal Gaddi costumes.

Participating schools included Government High School Dadi, Ghaniara, High School Sidhbari, Chatehar (Yol), High School Yol, Kendriya Vidyalaya Yol, Dhauladhar, Gurukul, Kangra Valley and Dayanand Model School.

LN Agarwal, in-charge of INTACH Kangra Chapter, thanked Dr Janmejaya Singh Guleria, headmaster of the host school, for hosting the competition. Agarwal addressed the students, sharing insights into local festivals, traditions, customs and rituals.

Janmejaya Guleria, also an executive member of INTACH, conducted the stage proceedings. He congratulated Agarwal for organising various competitions, workshops and tours to encourage youth in Kangra district.

Asha Aggarwal and Sunil Rajput, INTACH members, played a crucial role in conducting the competition. The paintings will be evaluated by INTACH Delhi and winners at the regional and national levels will be awarded.
