Over 1,500 persons participated in the NAMO Yuva Run organised by the BJP and the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) from the iconic Ridge to Chaura Maidan in Shimla today. Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and renowned playback singer Mohit Chauhan were the chief guests on the occasion.
Thakur said that the NAMO Yuva Run symbolised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, which was "If the youth are fit, the nation will be strong".
He said that this run was not merely a race, but a celebration of youth energy, patriotism and the dream of a healthy India. “When the youth are disciplined, energetic and healthy, India will emerge stronger and more prosperous,” he added.
Thakur stated that the event aligned with the ‘Fit India Movement’ and campaigns like ‘Khelega India, Jeetega India’. He urged the younger generation, often caught up in mobile phone and social media, to embrace fitness, stay away from drugs and turn towards sports. “The NAMO Yuva Run not only spreads the message of fitness but also strengthens national unity and patriotism. When thousands of youth run together, it reflects the spirit of building a stronger, self-reliant India,” he added.
Mohit Chauhan enthralled the audience with a performance. He also shared inspiring experiences from his life in Himachal Pradesh. He urged the youth to take a strong stand against drug abuse, calling it a collective mission for the nation’s future.
