Over 600 roads blocked in Himachal; rainfall to continue till September 24
At least 606 roads, including two National Highways (NHs), are blocked in Himachal Pradesh while as many as 228 transformers also remain disrupted as torrential rains continue to wreak havoc across the state.
As per the State Emergency Operation Centre, out of total 606 roads, about 203 including NH 03 are blocked in Kullu district while 198 roads are blocked in Mandi. Similarly, as many as 51 roads are blocked in Shimla, 40 in Kangra, 27 in Bilaspur, 24 each in Sirmaur and Chamba, 18 in Solan, 14 including NH 503A in Una, five in Hamirpur and two in Kinnaur.
Out of total 228 transformers, as many as 143 are disrupted in Mandi district alone, 31 in Hamirpur, 18 each in Shimla and Chamba, 17 in Kullu and one in Kangra district remain disrupted — leaving many areas of the state without electricity. Apart from this, about 221 water supply schemes, including 126 in Mandi, 36 in Shimla, 22 in Hamirpur, 19 in Chamba, eight in Solan and one in Sirmaur district are also disrupted.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall continued to lash many parts of Himachal during the last 24 hours. Naina Devi in Bilaspur received 140 mm rain which was the highest in the state. Bilaspur also received 122.8 mm rain, Nahan 80.6 mm, Kasauli 45 mm, Mandi 43.2 mm, Kangra 35.2 mm, Palampur 31 mm, Dharamsala 7.8 mm and Shimla 6 mm.
Also, as per the State Meteorological Department’s forecast, rainfall is very likely to continue across Himachal till September 24.
