Education Minister Rohit Thakur announced the successful recruitment of over 6,000 teachers in government schools across Himachal Pradesh. Speaking at the sixth convocation ceremony of Abhilashi University in Chailchowk, Mandi, he shared that recruitment for another 3,100 teaching posts through the State Staff Selection Commission was in progress.
Thakur, the chief guest at the event, conferred degrees on meritorious students and lauded Abhilashi University for becoming a hub of modern, job-oriented education. He said the university is drawing students from across the country and contributing significantly to the region’s academic development.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to education despite financial constraints, Thakur said Rs. 8,950 crore has been allocated to the education sector this fiscal year. He also announced the appointment of 119 principals in government colleges and the filling of 484 assistant professor vacancies, strengthening higher education.
Before the event, Thakur visited Government College, Basa, and Government Senior Secondary School, Kanaid, assuring timely completion of ongoing infrastructure works.
Urging students to focus on their goals, the minister encouraged them to work hard, avoid substance abuse, and use their time wisely. Chancellor Dr RK Abhilashi presented the annual report, and several dignitaries also attended the event.
