Palampur agri university campaign aims to improve women’s health
Campaign being observed from September 17 to October 2, 2025
Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof Naveen Kumar, has launched a university-wide campaign, “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” (healthy women, empowered family), through its Student Welfare Association. The campaign, being observed from September 17 to October 2, 2025, began with an inaugural event at the Civil Hospital, Palampur.
The programme commenced with health checkups of 20 women conducted at the University Health Centre. Dr AD Bindra, Student Welfare Officer, and Dr Anjali Sood, Assistant Student Welfare Officer, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of women’s health and empowerment. All NSS programme officers of the university and women hostel staff members of the Student Welfare Association were also present.
In his message, the Vice-Chancellor underlined that women’s health and empowerment form the cornerstone of a progressive society. He said campaigns like Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan are vital for spreading awareness about preventive healthcare, nutrition and holistic well-being. He urged participants to carry the campaign’s message into the wider community.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Dr Tilak Bhangra, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Palampur, emphasised the deep connection between women’s health and strong, empowered families. He was supported by Dr Vaishali Katoch, staff nurses and the hospital support staff.
The campaign reinforces the idea that a healthy woman is the foundation of an empowered family, aiming to inspire collective responsibility for women’s well-being.
