Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, has been conferred with the ‘Best Centre Award’ at the national level for its contribution to research and extension in fodder crops.

The award was presented during the National Group Meeting of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Forage Crops and Utilisation, organised at the Southern Regional Research Station, Dharwad (Karnataka), under the Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi.

Among 21 centres across the country engaged in forage research, the Palampur university stood out for its work in their effective dissemination to farmers’ fields. The centre’s initiatives have played a key role in enhancing fodder productivity, improving livestock health and output and uplifting rural livelihoods.

The award was received by a team of scientists from Palampur University, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Naveen Kumar, in the presence of Dr DK Yadav, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR and Dr SK Pradhan, Assistant Director General (Forage and Fodder Crops), ICAR.

Prof Kumar extended heartfelt congratulations to the university’s research team, commending their dedication and perseverance. He urged the scientists to maintain their momentum and continue striving for excellence in the service of both the university and the farming communities of the state.
