Palampur agri varsity marks anti-ragging awareness week

Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, observed anti-ragging awareness week from August 12–18, reaffirming its strong commitment to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment. The week-long observance was designed to sensitise students to the harmful impact of ragging while reinforcing the University’s strict zero-tolerance policy towards the menace.

A wide range of student-centric activities were held throughout the week, including slogan writing, poster making and article writing competitions. Students expressed their creativity and concern by presenting impactful visuals and messages that highlighted the emotional, social, and psychological consequences of ragging.

These activities also promoted positive values of empathy, friendship and mutual respect among peers. To further spread awareness, UGC-certified anti-ragging videos and short films were screened and circulated, educating students about the legal implications of ragging and its long-lasting impact on victims.

The observance culminated in a prize distribution ceremony on August 18, graced by Vice-Chancellor Dr Naveen Kumar as the chief guest. He, along with statutory officers, NSS programme officers, jury members and heads of departments, felicitated winners of the various competitions. In his address, Dr Kumar appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and staff and emphasised that CSKHPKV remains vigilant to ensure a healthy and inclusive academic atmosphere.

Adding an inspirational dimension, the College of Basic Sciences organized a motivational seminar on the theme “The Success Equation: Motivation + Focus = Achievement”. The session, delivered by Ms. Netra Meti, IAS, SDM Palampur, urged students to uphold dignity and respect while channeling their energy towards personal and academic excellence. Supporting the message, The week concluded with a student-led anti-ragging rally.
