Kendriya Vidyalaya, Palampur, celebrated its 62nd foundation day on Saturday.

The celebrations began with NCC cadets welcoming Col D Nanda — the chief guest at the event — and Dr Vivek Dogra, Sr Scientist, CSIR, and Subeer Singh of the Electricity Department — the guest of honour.

Principal Sunil Kumar highlighted the aim and motto of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and the role of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Palampur, in achieving the objectives.

Students welcomed the dignitaries with a melodious song. Vanshika Rana of Class XI ‘B’ presented a speech on about the role of the KVS in nurturing the future of students.

Captivating cultural performances, showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India, were showcased at the event. ‘Bharat ka swarnim gaurav’, the mesmerising group song performance, the vibrant Jhamakra showcase and the energetic Bhangra performance were much-loved by the audience.

History teacher Bhim Sain gave insights on the history of the KVS. Models about various subjects were also showcased to the guests at the event.

Col Nanda congratulated all on the occasion, and asked students to do their best to take the school to new heights.
