Palampur resident Lt Paranav Patial (22) was commissioned in the Engineering Regiment of the Army after completing his training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.

His grandfather, Jagvir Singh Patial, had served in the Punjab regiment.

Since Lieutenant Patial is a BTech graduate, he chosen to join the EME regiment.

He hails from Tappa village in Palampur subdivision of Kangra. He completed his schooling from Dharvera in Rajasthan. According to his family, his upbringing played a huge role in his decision to serve in the Army. His father is a government school teacher.
