Marking World NGO Day, the Municipal Corporation (MC), Palampur, in collaboration with the HILLDARI Team, organised an interaction and discussion programme to enhance NGO partnerships under the “Swachh Shehar, Samridh Shehar” campaign. The event, held at the MC’s conference hall, saw participation from several NGOs, including Art of Living, Sant Nirankari Mission, Sood Sabha, Rotary Club, Palampur Welfare and Environment Protection Forum, Brahmakumaris and Hilldari.

During the session, NGOs shared insights into their initiatives. The Environment Protection Forum discussed its long-running ‘Namami Neugal’ campaign to clean the Neugal river. The Rotary Club highlighted its plantation drives and blood donation camps, while the Sant Nirankari Mission presented ‘Project Amrit’, a nationwide water body cleanup effort.

A crucial topic was the need for self-waste managing residential colonies. NGOs stressed the importance of waste management at the colony level. The MC Commissioner assured that any proposals from residential welfare societies would be taken seriously.

Another major concern was the growing drug menace in Palampur. NGOs recommended forming a task force involving citizens, councilors, legal experts, and police to tackle the issue. Councilors and the Deputy Mayor assured their support in providing necessary facilities.

The event was attended by Deputy Mayor and Councilors Poonam Bali and Kamlesh Kumari, who appreciated the NGOs’ contributions and pledged MC’s full support. The interaction strengthened collaboration between the MC and NGOs, reinforcing efforts toward a cleaner, healthier Palampur.
