Palampur university celebrates guild of engineers
The Department of Agricultural Engineering at CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, recently celebrated National Engineer’s Day with great enthusiasm, paying tributes to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The event was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Naveen Kumar.
As the chief guest at the event, Kumar highlighted the invaluable contributions of engineers in shaping society, and regarded farmers as innovators, comparing them to engineers.
He encouraged participants to draw inspiration from Sir M Visvesvaraya, and use their own innovations to enhance working efficiency.
College of Agriculture Dean and Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering Dr MC Rana shared insights on the critical role agricultural engineers played in advancing farmers’ livelihoods.
As part of the celebrations, a special demonstration showcasing various agricultural tools was organised for farmers. Various agricultural technologies, including drones and equipment suited for hill farming, were demonstrated to the farmers.
Dr Lav Bhushan, Principal Investigator of the Agri-Drone Project, provided a live demonstration of the drone technology. Vijay Premi, Estate Officer; progressive farmer Shri Suresh Chaudhary; faculty members Dr Radhna Gupta, Dr Sushant, and Dr Rajinder Kumar; and students from the Food Technology Department were among those present at the event.
