Panchakarma therapist course will be extended to 10 colleges: Himachal Minister

AYUSH Minister Yadvinder Goma announced the expansion of Panchakarma therapist course and award scheme for AYUSH institutions on the occasion of National Ayurveda Day here today. The Department of AYUSH organised a symposium ‘AyurManthan – Ayush in Himachal: A roadmap for sustainable growth’ on the occasion.

The course, currently being run in two Ayurvedic hospitals, will be extended to 10 Ayurvedic hospitals across the state, resulting in the training of 170 Panchakarma therapists every year. This move aims to provide skilled manpower for the rapidly growing wellness industry.

The minister also launched AYUSH Sankalan, a digital health management information system designed to monitor drug inventory, maintain patient records,and enable an online attendance system for departmental staff. The portal will generate real-time institutional reports, ensuring greater transparency and effective governance. Goma also unveiled the logo of government Ayurvedic pharmacies, which will now market their medicines under the brand name ‘Himoshdham’. “This move aims to transform state-run pharmacies into competitive and trusted brands,” the minister said.

The symposium was attended by over 100 delegates, including senior departmental officers, subject experts and industry leaders. The event discussed strategies for harnessing non-timber forest produce for the AYUSH drug industry, strengthening government AYUSH pharmacies and promoting wellness tourism in the state.

At the outset, Secretary AYUSH A Shainamol and Director AYUSH Rohit Jamwal shared their perspectives on the department’s future. They stressed on the importance of convergence with allied departments, enhanced transparency through digital platforms and promoting Himachal Pradesh as a hub of traditional healthcare and wellness.
