Panchayat base of democracy, says Avinash Rai Khanna

The BJP works on the principle of “Panchayat to Parliament”, said BJP state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna here today.
“Panchayat is the base of a strong democracy. When the panchayat is strong, the village and the Vidhan Sabha will also become strong,” he said at a Panch Parmeshwar Sammelan organised by the Shimla Grameen Mandal at Basantpur.
Khanna said, “Panchayat is the base of all our development works and activities. So, the panchayat pradhan must consider himself as Chief Minister and members as Cabinet ministers. This thinking will automatically accelerate development.”
He said that everyone should take a pledge to make his panchayat littering free, drug free and Congress free to ensure overall development.
Neha (27), youngest pradhan of Shyamlaghat panchayat, district Shimla BJP president Ravi Mehta attended the programme.
