The district administration has entrusted the panchayat secretaries with the responsibility of ensuring enforcement of mandatory directives at marriages and social gatherings in the gram panchayats in view of the pandemic. As per the directions issued by Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Rakesh Prajapati, the panchayat secretaries will check if the cap of 50 persons at marriages is being adhered to, people are wearing face masks and following social distancing.
Prajapati said if the panchayat secretaries found any violation of these directives they would report to the local SDMs. He said all SDMs had been directed to conduct a surprise check at the wedding venues and at the social gatherings taking place in their respective areas. He said its the organisers”” responsibiliy to ensure that the SOPs issued by the state government under the Disaster Management Act-2005 to control the spread of Covid-19 in the district are followed. He also appealed to the people of Kangra district to follow the guidelines issued by the government.
