An electrifying wave of pride swept through Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district after the women’s hockey team of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Government College clinched the Himachal Pradesh Inter-College Hockey Championship for the second consecutive year, reaffirming their dominance with a commanding performance.

The final, played at the Indira Gandhi Astro Turf Ground of Government College, Una, witnessed a spectacular display of skill, speed and strategy. Paonta’s team overpowered the host college with an emphatic 8-2 victory, leaving no doubt about their superiority throughout the tournament.

The team’s journey to the title was marked by sheer brilliance. Their semi-final match had already sent a strong message, where they demolished Bilaspur College with a massive 18-0 win. Throughout the championship, the players maintained an aggressive yet disciplined style of play, combining sharp ball supply, cohesive coordination and clinical finishing to dominate their opponents.

Gurpreet Kaur, Sheetal, Kajal, Khushi, Reetika, Reemu, Saloni, Mahima, Neha, Kajal Tomar, Bhoomika, Chandni and Sitara formed the team’s formidable lineup, showcasing extraordinary teamwork and unwavering confidence. Their performance stood as a testament to rigorous practice sessions and well-executed strategies.

A warm, celebratory welcome awaited the champions upon their return to the college campus. Principal Prof Jagdish Chauhan greeted the players with garlands, while faculty members and non-teaching staff joined wholeheartedly in applauding the team’s remarkable achievement. Extending congratulations to the Physical Education Department and team in-charge Prof Zafar Ali, the Principal, said the victory is a moment of pride not only for the institution but for the entire region.
