Paragliding World Cup to begin from November 4

Himachal Pradesh will host the Paragliding World Cup in Bir-Billing from November 4 to November 10. The Paris-based Paragliding World Cup Association (PWCA), which organises such global adventurous events, had notified the championship’s dates, official sources said today.
Baijnath SDM DC Thakur, who is also the chairman of the Special Area Development Authority (SADA), visited Bir-Billing on Thursday to review arrangements for the event.
Anurag Sharma, president of Bir-Billing Paragliding Association (BPA), today told The Tribune that the BPA had already started preparations for the big event. He said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had assured full support to the BPA in holding the event.
Over 300 foreign and domestic pilots were expected to take part in the event, the BPA president said, adding that the state Tourism Department would be a partner in the event.
Baijnath MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Kishori Lal said: “The paragliding championship will give a boost to the tourism industry of Kangra. The CM has already announced plans to make the district the state’s tourism capital.”
