Patients seek early repair of thyroid machine at IGMC-Shimla
Shimla, February 6
Patients are facing problems in getting tests done at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital, Shimla. They are demanding that the hospital’s broken thyroid testing machine be repaired at the earliest.
They say that the machine is not working for the past one week and they have to get thyroid tests done at private labs at expensive rates. Dr Aman Madhaik, Deputy Medical Superintendent, IGMC, says that the machine will be repaired soon. A part of the machine is not available, and an engineer has been called for to repair it. He adds that the patients are at present getting tests done at Krsnna Lab.
Besides, the patients are also facing inconvenience in the absence of around 160 doctors in the hospital, who are on winter vacation. Around 3,000 patients visit the IGMC everyday, including from far-flung areas of the state.
