Patwaris, Kanungos go on mass CL against cadre shift
Patwaris and kanungos proceeded on mass casual leave today in protest against the government’s decision to shift them from district cadre to state cadre. Due to the strike, the offices of patwaris and kanungos remained closed in the state, causing a lot of inconvenience to the general public.
“The government has formed a committee to look into our demands. We were assured that the notification about our demands would be made before the notification about the change in our cadre. But the government has done exactly the opposite, so we have gone on mass casual leave,” said Satish Chaudhary, president of the Joint Patwari and Kanungo Union.
Chaudhary said that they would go on mass casual leave on February 27 as well. “We hope that the government will call us for talks on February 27. And if we are not called for a meeting with the government, we will start a pen-down strike from February 28,” he added.
He said that most of their demands were related to public interest. “We have asked for broadband connectivity for more efficient services and reorganisation of bigger patwarkhanas where there is more work,” he added.
“Besides, we have asked the government to prepare a work chart for us,” he claimed. The other demand put forward by the union was an increase in their promotional quota for the posts of Naib Tehsildar. “At present, there’s a 60 per cent promotional quota for us for the posts of Nain Tehsildar. We are urging the government to increase it to 80 per cent,” said Chaudhary.
