Bhuwan Sharma, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Shimla, said notices were issued to defaulters, who have been directed to pay the outstanding amount within the stipulated time. Stringent action would be taken against the property tax defaulters, he added.

The matter was also raised during the recent General House Meeting of the Municipal Corporation, in which councillors expressed concern over people as well as government departments not paying property tax to the civic body on time. The Municipal Corporation is also issuing notices to the defaulters of garbage collection bills.
