With the spirited slogan “Pedal towards a healthy future – Burn fat, not oil,” a vibrant cycling rally was held today in Kangra to mark World Hypertension Awareness Month. The event, led by Dr Ruby Bhardwaj, BMO Nagrota Bagwan, united health professionals, fitness buffs and concerned citizens in a shared mission: to promote heart health and raise awareness about hypertension.
The rally kicked off at 7 am from the iconic Minerva Study Circle Clock Tower, Sidhbari, flagged off by Chief Medical Officer Dr Rajesh Guleri. Riders enthusiastically pedalled their way to PHC-Chamunda, turning heads and spreading a strong message of wellness and environmental consciousness.
Participants ranged from seasoned healthcare workers to young cycling enthusiasts, including Dr. Utsav Soni, Akash Singh, Uday Singh and energetic youngsters like Master Aarav and Master Sanav. Their collective presence underscored the importance of community-led health initiatives.
All participants received certificates and mementos across various categories, acknowledging their dedication. Post-ride refreshments encouraged conversation and camaraderie, reinforcing the community’s commitment to active living.
Dr Bhardwaj remarked, “Cycling is more than a sport — it’s a statement. It promotes cardiovascular health, reduces pollution, and brings people together in a shared cause.”
Dr Saurav from PHC-Chamunda added, “This rally was more than just a ride — it was a call to action. As hypertension cases surge, it’s time to champion fitness, sustainability, and prevention.”
Kangra didn’t just ride today — it took a firm step toward a healthier, greener tomorrow.
