The local unit of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd (HPSEBL) Pensioners’ Forum convened its meeting here on Thursday to express its resentment towards the management for not releasing arrears of the revised pay scales to the pensioners who had retired between January 2016 and March 2022.

The meeting was presided over by its president, Maan Singh. While addressing forum members, pensioners’ forum state vice-president Pawan Mohal said the board management had not even released gratuity and leave encashment dues to the pensioners and demanded immediate disbursement of all financial benefits to them.

“The HPSEBL is deducting monthly pension from commuted pension for 15 years whereas the states of neighbouring Punjab and Haryana have respectively fixed the period to 10 and 8 years. The 15-year pension deduction is causing financial loss to the board pensioners,” he said.

Slamming the board management for abolishing significant posts of employees of different categories under the pretext of the rationalisation of services, the forum said the HP electricity board, which had a strength of 43,000 employees for merely nine lakh electricity consumers in 1990 across the state had declined to 12,000 against the present enhanced consumers’ count that had crossed 20 lakhs.

The forum also expressed its resentment over the frequent mishaps of technical employees in the state due to their working stress with overworking.
