Petition Committee constituted, 21 cases resolved

Committee formed to provide free justice to those who cannot approach court or are financially weak

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today chaired a meeting of the Petition Committee constituted after a gap of 28 years. The members of the committee Satpal Singh Satti, Chandra Shekhar and Anuradha Rana were also present.

Presiding over the meeting, Pathania stated that the committee had received 77 petitions related to various departments. Of these, the committee had resolved 21 petitions, providing justice to the petitioners.

Pathania stated that this committee was formed after 28 years to provide speedy and free justice to those who cannot approach the court or are financially weak. “Applicants whose complaints are not being heard in the departments can submit their representations to the Petition Committee on plain paper to the committee,” he stated.

Pathania said that out of the 77 petitions received before the committee, 19 were related to the Education Department, 16 to Revenue and six to Public Works Department.

Pathania said six of these petitions were resolved during the meeting. He said regarding the pending petitions before the committee, the concerned departmental officials have been summoned for testimony in the next meeting to provide departmental responses.
