Pharmacy fails to maintain sales record, sealed by CID

The Health Department, in collaboration with the state CID, has sealed a pharmacy in Saho panchayat of Chamba district for failing to maintain proper records of sales. The authorities also confiscated the pharmacy owner’s car, after eight bottles of codeine cough syrup were seized in the vehicle. The drug inspector seized the bottles and collected samples, which have been sent to the department’s laboratory for a quality check. It was revealed that the pharmacy owner was selling large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic drugs without maintaining accurate purchase and sales records, which is mandatory as per the rules.
Campaign launched
- The CID and the Health Department are conducting a special campaign against drug abuse in Chamba
- As part of this campaign, pharmacies in the district are being inspected to ensure that drugs, prone to abuse, are not sold without a doctor’s prescription
The authorities have also instructed the drug inspector to ensure that the complete sales records of the drugs were provided to the Health Department. The CID and the Health Department are conducting a special campaign against drug abuse in the district. As part of this campaign, pharmacies in the district are being inspected to ensure that drugs, prone to abuse, are not sold without a doctor’s prescription.
State Drug Controller Manish Kapoor said the pharmacy in Saho was sealed due to improper record-keeping of narcotic and psychotropic drugs. The department was taking this matter seriously and investigating it further as part of the campaign to curb the growing misuse of drugs, he added. — OC
