In a heartwarming act of selflessness, 13-year-old Pratham Puri, a Class VIII student of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Dharamsala, chose compassion over personal desire by donating his entire savings to aid disaster victims in Himachal Pradesh.

Pratham had been carefully saving money in his piggy bank for months, dreaming of purchasing a PlayStation 5 (PS5) — a coveted gaming console. However, upon learning about the devastating natural disaster that struck the Seraj region of Mandi district, he made a remarkable decision. Moved by the suffering of the affected families, Pratham donated Rs 15,000, the full amount of his savings, to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dharamsala, to be forwarded to the Seraj Disaster Relief Fund.

DC Hemraj Bairwa commended Pratham’s generosity, saying, “At such a young age, this level of empathy and understanding is truly inspiring. Pratham has set a powerful example for others.”
