Pilgrims take holy dip at Tattapani in Karsog on Lohri-Makar Sankranti fair

The two-day district-level Lohri-Makar Sankranti fair at Tattapani, a famous religious tourism destination under Karsog subdivision of Mandi district, concluded today. Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the fair. Mandi MP Pratibha Singh was also present. Hundreds of pilgrims took a holy dip in a hot spring on the Sutlej bank at Tattapani today.

While speaking at the closing ceremony, Vikramaditya Singh said the work on expansion of four roads of the Karsog area would be done at a cost of Rs 58 crore and DPR of five more new roads to be built in the area at a cost of Rs 7 crore has been sent to NABARD for approval. He said construction work of mini-secretariat building is going on at Karsog at a cost of Rs 37 crore.

“The judicial complex is being built at Karsog and its construction work will be completed soon. In the financial year 2024-25, Rs 4 crore would be spent on the repair work of roads in the Karsog area,” he said.

On the demand of the people to build a PWD rest house at Tattapani, the minister assured the people that this demand would be fulfilled after taking it to the Cabinet for approval. He said the Karsog area would be developed from every aspect. He also announced Rs 31,000 for the fair committee.

Targeting the BJP, the minister said due to monsoon fury last year, the state had suffered badly. He said around Rs 12,000 crore losses occurred across the state due to the natural disaster, but no big financial package was provided by the Central Government to Himachal to deal with the situation.

“Although, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers Himachal his second home, he did not provide any special financial package to the state to cope up with the disaster,” he said.

“Under the leadership of CM Sukhvinder Sukhu, the state government has done the work of providing relief to the affected people by announcing a disaster relief package of Rs 4,500 crore from its own resources,” he said. MP Pratibha Singh announced Rs 2 lakh for the construction of a stage at Tattapani.
