Planned power shutdown in Kinnaur on November 3, 4
Exercise to be undertaken for transmission line maintenance work
Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in several areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts on November 3 and 4 to facilitate important transmission work related to the 150 MW Tidong Hydropower Project.
According to Tashi Chhodup Negi, Senior Executive Engineer, HPSEBL, Reckong Peo division, the shutdown would be implemented to enable stringing of power conductors between tower numbers TR-50 and TR-51 on the 66 kV Bhuktu–Akpa transmission line.
He said, “There will be power outage from 8 am to 5 pm on both days. During the maintenance period, the substations and feeders that would remain non-operational include — 66/22 kV Akpa sub-station; 66/22 kV Pooh sub-station; and 22 kV Kharoo; 22 kV Ribba; 22 kV Spillo, 22 kV Moorang; 22 kV Pooh–Kaza; 22 kV Pooh; 22 kV Chango Express and 22 kV Sunnam feeders.”
The entire areas under the Pooh and Spiti blocks would experience complete disruption of power supply during the mentioned the two on the specified hours, he said, while adding, “We regret the inconvenience caused to the public and sincerely appreciate their cooperation,” Negi said.
The Tidong Hydropower Project, a 150 MW capacity initiative, is one of the key energy projects in the Kinnaur region. Such transmission works are essential for ensuring long-term reliability and efficiency in power supply once completed.
